Summy Garden Studio vs HeadshotPro: an honest comparison

We are the smaller, newer product. Here is a straight account of where we are better, where we are cheaper, and where HeadshotPro is genuinely the stronger choice.

Competitor figures taken from HeadshotPro's public pricing page, checked 2 September 2026. Prices change — verify before you buy.

Price and volume, side by side

Middle$39 — 90 photos (3 shoots), 4K$39 — 50 photos, ~30 min

The structures differ, so read the middle row carefully. HeadshotPro's $39 buys one larger shoot — 50 photos from a single setup. Our $39 buys three separate shoots of 30, which you can run on different days with different themes, outfits and even different uploaded photos. That is more useful if you want variety, and less useful if you want fifty variations of one look in one sitting.

Where we are genuinely better

4K on every tier

HeadshotPro reserves 4K resolution for its $59 Executive plan. Every Summy Garden pack downloads at 4K, including the $24 one. If you intend to print, or crop hard, this matters.

Automatic likeness checking

Every photo we generate is compared against the photos you uploaded using face recognition that runs in your own browser. If a photo drifts past our similarity threshold, it is discarded and re-shot before it ever reaches you. Competitors typically offer a redo — you look at the results, decide they are wrong, and ask for another run. Ours is a check that happens automatically, on every photo, before you see anything.

This is honest engineering, not magic: identity preservation in image models is imperfect, and a threshold is a threshold. It reduces bad results. It does not eliminate them, which is why the refund exists.

Eleven languages, not one

The whole product runs in English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, French, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese and German — the studio, the pricing, your dashboard, the legal pages and support. Not a translated marketing page with an English app behind it.

Five currencies

Priced in USD, GBP, HKD, EUR and RMB. If you are in Hong Kong or mainland China you see a price in your own money rather than doing mental arithmetic on a US dollar figure.

Wardrobe beyond Western business wear

Cheongsam, hijab and mandarin collar sit in the wardrobe as ordinary professional options alongside a navy suit. They are never assigned to you automatically — the automatic styling only ever picks neutral business staples. You choose them, or you do not.

This sounds small. If you have used a headshot generator that only knows how to dress you in a Western suit, it is not.

Minutes at the entry tier

Most AI headshot services fine-tune a model on your face, which is why HeadshotPro's $29 plan takes around two hours. We use in-context reference images instead, so every tier finishes in minutes. Note that HeadshotPro's paid tiers are fast too — 30 minutes at $39, 15 at $59 — so this is an entry-tier advantage, not a blanket one.

Where HeadshotPro is stronger

We would rather you knew this from us. If any of the following is what you need, buy from them.

A public track record

HeadshotPro shows over 3,500 Trustpilot reviews at a 4.7 average. Summy Garden Studio launched in 2026 and has very few published reviews. That is a real difference and no amount of copywriting fixes it — it is fixed by customers, over time. If you want to see hundreds of strangers' results before you spend money, we cannot offer that yet.

Compliance paperwork

They hold a SOC 2 Type II report and publish a DPA through a trust centre. We do not have SOC 2. If your employer's procurement or IT team requires it, that decision is already made.

Teams and enterprise

HeadshotPro has an admin dashboard, invite links, bulk download, SSO, SCIM, a REST API and volume discounts up to 50%. We are built for one person buying headshots for themselves. For a 200-person company rollout they are the right tool and we are not.

Shorter input retention

HeadshotPro deletes uploaded photos 30 days after generation. We do not retain source photos after your shoot, but we keep your generated headshots for 6 months so you can download them again from your dashboard. If you would rather results disappeared sooner, ask us and we will delete them.

So which should you pick?

Choose Summy Garden Studio if you are one person job hunting, you want the most photos for your money, you want 4K without paying $59, you would rather read the product in Chinese, Arabic, Hindi or Japanese, you want to pay in HKD or RMB, or you want professional clothing that is not exclusively Western.

Choose HeadshotPro if you are buying for a team, you need SOC 2 for procurement, or you want to read thousands of reviews before spending anything.

Both services refund you if the photos do not look like you. That means the honest way to settle this is to try one and ask for your money back if it disappoints. We would rather you did that than take our word for it.
